Meta Internship 2024 – 2025

Software Engineer, Intern/Co-op

Meta is seeking Software Engineer Interns to join our engineering team.

As a Software Engineer at Meta, you’ll drive the development of the systems behind Meta’s products, create web applications that reach billions of people, build high volume servers, and be a part of a team that’s working to help people connect around the globe.

This internship/co-op has a minimum twelve (12) week duration.

Job Responsibilities

Develop and push production-ready code by quickly ramping on the assigned codebase, product area, and/or system

Complete assigned tasks efficiently with few iterations

Identify problem statements, outline optimal solutions, account for tradeoffs and edge cases

Communicate effectively across multiple stakeholders

Qualifications:

Currently enrolled in a full-time, degree-seeking program and in the process of obtaining a

Bachelors or Masters degree in computer science or a related field

Experience coding in an industry-standard language (e.g. Java, Python, C++, Objective-C, JavaScript)

Must obtain work authorization in country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment

Preferred Qualifications

Demonstrated software engineering experience from a previous internship, work experience, coding competitions, or publications

Intent to return to degree program after the completion of the internship/co-op

Meta University – Engineering – Summer 2025

Meta University is an inclusive paid, summer internship program designed to provide technical skill development & professional work experience to students from a range of backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives.

The internship takes place from June to August and includes a few weeks of computer science training followed by hands-on project work.

Throughout the duration of the program, you’ll be paired with a Meta Engineer who will serve as your mentor and help guide you along the way.

Job Responsibilities

Participate in a technical skill development training course

Work on a project with the product team and receive coaching from an intern manager

Apply current programming knowledge (C/C++, JavaScript, Java, PHP, Ruby, Python, Lua, Objective C, etc.) and learn new technologies

Qualifications

Current first-year (Class of 2028) or second-year (Class of 2027) college student studying at a four-year university (or equivalent program for special cases) in the U.S., Canada, or Mexico.

Must be at least 18 years old by May 1, 2025

Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment

Available to work in the United States for the duration of the program

Knowledge of at least one programming language (ie: C/C++, JavaScript, Java, PHP, Ruby, Python, Lua, Objective C, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications

Demonstrated interest in science and technology

First-year students must have completed one college-level CS course by the end of their first year in college (AP/IB CS course in High School is acceptable). Second-year students must have completed two college-level CS courses.
