Software Engineer, Runtime, AI Inference – USA
Job Description:
As a Software Engineer within our Autonomy teams, you will contribute to one of the most advanced and widely deployed AI Platforms in the world for Autopilot and our Humanoid Robot, Optimus.
The nature of the role is multi-disciplinary – you will be working at the intersection of machine learning and systems.
You will build the frameworks and infrastructure that enable the seamless deployment, integration, and inference of all neural networks.
You will develop system tools to benchmark, characterize, and optimize the latency and throughput of AI workloads on the FSD chip.
Write, debug and maintain robust software for Autopilot and Humanoid robot AI inference (Export / Compiler / Runtime) stack
Work with AI/compiler/OS/driver teams to enable efficient execution of the AI Models
Low level systems programming including (not limited to) – GPU kernels, asynchronous / multithreaded programming, etc.
Qualification:
Proficient C/C++ programming C/C++ including modern C/C++ (C++14/17/20)
Basic Python proficiency
Parallel programming with CUDA, OpenCL, or SIMD, with previous experience with custom ASIC / hardware accelerator chips, is a plus.
Familiarity with ML runtimes, compilers, or frameworks is a plus. (e.g. PJRT, MLIR, XLA, TensorRT, LLVM, JAX, TVM)

Internship, Software Engineer, AI Inference (Fall 2024)
Job Description:
This position is expected to start around September 2024 and continue through the entire Fall 2024 term or into Winter 2025 if available.
We ask for a minimum of 12 weeks, full-time and on-site, for most internships.
Take ownership of parts of AI Inference stack (Export/Compiler/Runtime) (flexible, based on skills/interests/needs)
Closely collaborate with AI team to guide them on the design and the development of Neural Networks into production
Collaborate with HW team to understand current HW architecture and propose future improvements
Develop algorithms to improve performance and reduce compiler overhead
Debug functional and performance issues on massively-parallel systems
Work on architecture-specific neural network optimization algorithms for high performance computing
Qualification:
Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science & Engineering, or a related field
Comfortable with C++ and Python
Capable of delivering results with minimal oversight

Software Engineer, Backend, AI Tooling
Job Description:
As an Engineer on the AI Tooling team, you bring top-notch software engineering skills and can contribute to our tooling systems immediately.
Knowledge of machine learning, computer vision, or neural networks is a plus but not required. That can be learned on the job as you work with our machine learning experts.
A strong candidate for the AI Tooling team will either be an excellent software generalist, or someone who is exceptionally strong in either backend or frontend engineering.
Design and implement large-scale data processing pipelines that handle a diverse set of Autopilot related data such as images, sensor inputs, and humabels
Design and implement tools, tests, metrics, and dashboards to accelerate the development cycle of our model training
Work closely with front end engineers to seamlessly integrate with backend systems
Work closely with AI researchers to support evolving research projects and implement new production features
Qualification:
Strong knowledge of at least one programming language related to data engineering, such as Python or Scala is required
Experience with scientific computing libraries such as numpy, pandas, or scikit-learn is a plus
Experience with big data systems such as Spark, Hadoop/MapReduce is a plus
Experience with cloud computing such AWS EC2/S3/RDS is a plus
